Poetry Slam
2020-2021

Between September 2020 and January 2021, I got given the task of choosing a poem and then creating a poster and animation for it, based on a specific location I felt like I could relate to the poem.

When deciding my site-specific location, I thought of the different messages and thongs that my chosen poem was trying to convey and eventually decided on a train station. When this was decided I then decided that I wanted to take inspiration from the calling boards that are used

When looking at the different signs used, I noticed how they all used dot matrix type. This then meant that I also needed to make my own dot matrix typeface. To create this I used InDesign and the grids that I can get on it.

I then took my typeface and created a poster which I then made into an animation. When making my poster, I also used different aspects from the poem for the different elements.

For example, there were 24 lines in the poem, therefore I made it have 24 coaches, along with using the name of the author for the company name.
